5 Star Floors' fulltime team of 4 skilled tradesmen include the owners Leon Weir and Ken Jamieson. Leon and Ken both hold Certificate 3 in ACT Building (completed with the HIA). All team members are either qualified in Certificate 3 in Floor Coverings or in the process of formalizing their extensive on-the-job experience by completing the course. Along with his Certificate 3 in Floor Coverings and Certificate 3 in Building, Leon also holds a Certificate 4 in Workplace Training & Assessment, which places him in the unique position of being the trainer and assessor for his own staff plus other trainees throughout the ACT flooring industry, a role he carries out through the RTO (Registered Training Organisation) incorporated with the FIAA (Furnishing Industry Associations Australia).

Whilst 5 Star Floors provides excellent service to these quality-focused builders, more than 50% of our work is for private residential customers, whom we consider to be equally important to our customer base. The benefit of our commercial experience to the residential customer is that, unlike most sole traders and small operators, 5 Star Floors carry all the required public liability & work cover insurances and up to date technology, equipment, industry training & man power to get the job done properly and promptly.
5 Star Guarantee:
- 5 Star Floors commit to complying with and exceeding standards outlined in accordance with the Australian Standard (AS 4786.2) for timber floor sanding & finishing.
- 5 Star Floors commit to complying with and exceeding standards outlined in accordance with the Australian "Draft" Standard (DR 99 463) for flooring installation.
- As a company trading in the building industry 5 Star Floors is committed to complying with the ACT's 2 year "non structural" warranty, for defects in product.
- Products: 5 Star Floors use only top quality products such as Traffic from Bona (non-yellowing water-based polyurethane), modified tung oil & solvent finishes from Polycure, Boral Silkwood floating flooring and kiln dried hardwoods (Australian species only) all of which carry their own manufactures' warranties (up to 25 years for floating floors).
